EnergyWeek is the highlight of the EnergyVaasa Cluster. During the past years the event has attracted the who’s who of the energy industry to meet, greet and share ideas about innovative solutions needed to fight climate change, enable electrification and strengthen competitiveness of energy-intensive industries and to build opportunities for entirely new ones.
EnergyWeek is also an important event for all EnergySampo partners. During EnergyWeek the partner companies have presented their solutions at the exhibition and hosted their own events during the past years. We have also used the opportunity to promote important system level challenges and to spark needed discussion about the future of energy.
EnergySampo Forum 2026
EnergySampo Forum is about lifting topics that require broader system level thinking and actions. In recent years we have discussed the need for system level innovation, shared ideas and developed solutions related to green hydrogen and electrification. This year’s theme is again super interesting: The questions that we ask and seek answers to are: What does the future of energy look like? And more importantly, how can we analyse, develop and simulate future energy systems.
Join business driven out-of-the-box thinking
Energy markets are becoming increasingly complex as we speak. While innovation on technology remains important, a deeper system level understanding goes beyond technology alone. Regulation, market and business model drivers, together with the interdependence and links between different sectors create endless development pathways and scenarios that call for new ways of thinking.
These are among the reasons why this year’s Energy Sampo Forum brings together leaders from different dimensions. Business driven simulation is presented by Wärtsilä’s Malin Östman, who leads a group of industry experts that have been simulating the development of more than 200 energy markets worldwide. Out of the box thinking is brought up by Katja Sirviö from University of Vaasa, a seasoned executive with line of sight and connections to leading European living labs.
The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion where Malin and Katja are joined by Fingrid’s Petri Parviainen and Vaasan Sähkö’s Henri Torsti to share their views on what the future of energy looks from the national grid operator’s and local energy company’s perspectives.
Call for action
As always, the EnergySampo forum presents a call for action. When discussing the future, we must first to be able to imagine and dream. Secondly, we need to understand where we are today. And thirdly, we need to act.
